William & Mary leveled a series at Plumeri Park at APP Carolina A&T, defeating the Aggies 7-4 Saturday.

The Tribe (24-11, 7-4 Coastal Athletic Association) took a 6-0 lead in the first three innings, thanks in large part to Henry Jackson’s grand slam in the first. Josiah Seguin socked a sixth-inning homer for W&M.

Zack Potts (5-2) pitched 6 1/3 innings for the victory, giving up four hits and four runs (one earned). Carter Lovasz shut out A&T (19-15, 4-7) for the last 2 2/3 innings, striking out five.

James Madison 7, Old Dominion 5: Hampton Roads natives helped the Dukes (21-13, 7-7 Sun Belt) square their Royal Rivalry series with the Monarchs (17-17, 6-8) in Norfolk.

Cox High graduate Fenwick Trimble was 2 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs. Hickory High alum Mason Dunaway was 2 for 4 with an RBI.
For ODU, Luke Waters was 3 for 5 and Steven Meier drove in two runs.

Virginia Wesleyan 9-8, Ferrum 8-14: Nick Sylvester clubbed a walk-off solo homer in Game 1 for the Marlins (18-12, 10-6 Old Dominion Athletic Conference) in the ninth inning of a split doubleheader against the Panthers.

In Game 1, Sylvester, Micah Fox, Michael Burton Jr. and Samuel Kasprow drove in two runs apiece for the Marlins, and Thomas Crandall scored three. Bryce Thacker led Ferrum, going 4 for 5 with three runs and two RBIs.

In Game 2, Ferrum (11-19, 4-11) bounced back behind Shawn Baxter’s homer, double and six RBIs, going ahead to stay with a three-run third for a 5-2 edge.

Coppin State 9, Norfolk State 8: The Eagles (8-19, 7-10 APPeast Conference) took a 2-0 lead in the series in Norfolk despite being outhit 14-6 by the Spartans (9-24, 5-12).

Manny Jackson drove in three runs, Jamal Ritter scored three and Jalan Jones had three hits for the Spartans. They led 8-6 in a seesaw game until three walks preceded Brody Black’s bases-loaded single, which turned into a three-run, go-ahead play because of an outfield gaffe, one of five errors committed by NSU.

Louisville 14, No. 11 Virginia 10: Led by Ryan McCoy’s two home runs and seven RBIs, the host Cardinals (21-12, 7-7 ACC) evened their series with the Cavaliers (27-8, 10-7), capitalizing on UVA’s season-high four errors.

Griff O’Ferrall (2 for 4, two RBIs) and Lafayette High graduate Luke Hanson (2 for 4, one run, one RBI) starred for UVA. Freshman Eric Becker drove in three runs, and Aidan Teel slugged a three-run, pinch-hit homer in the ninth inning. UVA starter Kevin Jaxel (4-1) gave up five runs and five hits in the first inning, and Louisville led 9-1 after three.

Georgia Tech 19, Virginia Tech 0: The Yellow Jackets (21-12, 6-8 ACC) held Virginia Tech (23-9, 11-6) to three hits – all singles – by left-hander Cam Jones, who pitched a shutout in Atlanta, striking out six Hokies without allowing a walk in seven innings. The game, which evened the series at a victory apiece, was shortened from the planned nine because of the conference run rule.

Eight Virginia Tech pitchers combined to issue 19 walks – the most the Hokies have logged since at least the 2005 season. Starter Wyatt Parliament was pulled three batters into the second inning after allowing six of the nine batters he faced to reach base.

Matthew Ellis hit a grand slam off reliever David Shoemaker that pushed the Yellow Jackets’ lead to 7-0 during the second inning.

Apprentice 22-11, Lighthouse 2-1: The first-place Builders (30-7, 8-2 New South Athletic Conference) romped in a doubleheader at War Memorial Stadium in Hampton against the Makos (2-17, 1-7) of Pensacola, Florida.

CNU had seven hits but committed five errors as its eight-game winning streak ended.
